Cafe Latte

Is scrolling through Instagram the new way of deciding where to eat, what to do, how to decorate your home, or what to wear? I vote yes, my husband wasn’t so sure. However this was how I chanced upon some rather convincing images for Cafe Latte located in Toorak https://www.instagram.com/cafelattehawksburn/ It looked modern, appetising, chic yet cosy, perfect for an anniversary brunch location we’d been struggling to decide on. Ironically, as soon as we sat down at our reserved table, the couple next to us were telling the waiter who also happened to be the owner, how they’d discovered the cafe on Instagram.

The ambience was a subdued palette of neutrals and pastel tones. Clean lines, modern, sleek with sophisticated accent lighting.

Service was prompt, attentive and polite with warmth.

We decided to choose a savoury and sweet dish. All choices an absolute delight. Their coffee supplier Padre ensured that the whole cafe latte experience didn’t dissapoint.

Will definitely return to try their other menu items and shall add them to the list below:

Wild Mushroom Medley, an exquisite combination of textures and taste. The mildness of a crisp polenta & potato hash balanced with taleggio mousse & kale. Sauteed mushrooms in miso jus flavoursome on their own yet a perfect partner for the poached egg.

Poached eggs on Shakshuka with feta cheese. A spicy start to the day but mild enough not to burn you out too soon.

French Toast Suzette works well as an indulgent sweet dish or as a dessert enough for 2 people to share. The refreshing vanilla sorbet slowly melting over the berries and lemon creme anglaise drenched brioche resting on lemon curd.
